The Post-graduate Research course in Curating New Media Art prepares your skillset and understanding of media art, with sheer research into the medium of creative expression and presentation. It is a Non-degree studio-based course, which gives the students an immersive experience in research-based curating. We welcome proposals for research in any area connected with media art, fine art, interaction design, photography, sound and etc….

The programme combines taught seminars in research methodology with a 25,000-word dissertation, and offers advanced-level training to appropriately qualified students.

We give priority to those with proposals for research within the areas of interest of our staff.

Skills

The ICC aims to develop students who should be able to express themselves creatively and self-critically in theoretical and/or practice work. You’ll also develop:
▪ an understanding of the workings of curating new media arts and its significance in art world and in society.
▪ an understanding of media research in new media art.

Career path:

Curator,  producers for cultural companies, galleries, music labels ; Curatorial Assistant (PR, marketing and press) and etc.

Length: 1 year full-time or 2 years part-time (starts every March)

Location: ICC Prince Hills Centre

Entrance requirements:
All the You should have an undergraduate degree of at least upper second class standard in a relevant subject. If your first language is not English, you normally need a minimum score of 7.0 in IELTS (including 7.0 in the written element) or equivalent.

Fees:

85000 RMB (full-time)

105000 RMB (part-time)

Bursary:

Every year, the ICC grants a limited number of tuition-waiver programmes, scholarships across all the PGRes courses. Every applicant with shown interest will be considered.

-Contact details of a second referee if required
-Your pre-prepared personal statement (stating your interest and aspiration)
-A soft copy of your educational transcript if available

Selection process

Admission to many programmes is by interview. Occasionally we’ll make candidates an offer of a place on the basis of their application and qualifications alone.
